ABOUT YOUR ADVISORS IN Central Ohio
John Holcomb
Certified Senior Advisor®
Thank you for your interest in Oasis Senior Advisors Central Ohio.
I was born and raised a Buckeye in Central Ohio. My wife and I chose to raise our family here because we love the people, the opportunities, the seasons, and having access to some of the best healthcare around.
I spent 25 years in the financial industry helping people realize their dreams and offering assistance and guidance when times were difficult. Today, I continue to assist people by working with seniors and families – face-to-face – to identify their needs and match them with their ideal assisted living community. I have experienced firsthand the stress that health issues can place on a family. Empowering clients to maintain their dignity and quality of life is a privilege, an honor, and a responsibility that I take very seriously.
If you or a loved one are in need of guidance or insight to determine the best quality of life options, my mission is to be there – by your side – acting as guide and resource during your transition.

I believe that seniors deserve to be treated with the utmost respect and dignity and held in reverence for all they have accomplished for younger generations. I have dedicated my professional life to seniors by being a senior advocate. These planning activities/events added purpose to seniors’ lives, previously serving as Executive Director of an Assisted Living Community, and now as a Community Outreach Liaison for Oasis Senior Advisors. My mission is to provide guidance and support to seniors and their families as seniors undergo the often confusing and frightening transition from living independently. I am committed to bringing honor to seniors by helping them continue living their lives with grace.

I have dedicated my entire career to working with seniors, and my major at Bowling Green State University was in Gerontology. Because my family was inter-generational with great-grandparent living with grandparents, I learned at early age respect for seniors and the accomplishments and knowledge that could be shared through their experiences. As a previous Executive Director of several Assisted Living and Memory Care Communities, it was my greatest pleasure to help seniors find their fullest potential and live with dignity and respect regardless of their disability, in the senior living community. With Oasis Senior Advisors, I feel I can provide families with an unbiased view of the many communities and services and help provide the best case options. It is with this guidance and support I feel I can help make the maze of healthcare easier to understand and decisions for care and services less confusing.

I'm a mother. I'm a daughter. That makes me the bologna in the middle of the sandwich, smashed between taking care of aging parents, and responsibilities like children, a husband, a job, or God forbid - myself! After years of juggling it all, and some devastating losses, I found my purpose. I took what I had learned into a career of working with seniors and their families. All of the answers, resources, and options I had struggled to find could now be shared with others in the same sandwich. I feel privileged to have shared in the lives of hundreds of families navigating the life changes of aging parents. I've witnessed the lessons learned from teachers old enough to see the big picture. I've learned the tools that work, the wisdom our elders can impart, and some tricks to survive the process. I want to help others in the same situations I found myself and make their journey a little easier.

Seniors and their families need an advocate through what is going to be one of the most difficult and emotional times of their life. Navigating through the many options of senior living and care is no easy task. It is very overwhelming and for most consumers this is their first time through this process. Knowing the right questions to ask and what to look for, or even where to begin is daunting. As a Senior Advisor, we provide education, emotional support, and guidance through what seems like a never-ending maze of options. I have built my career around helping people, and I am blessed that this is the path it led me to, it is a true calling and an honor to serve the senior population. I began my venture into senior living as an early teenager volunteering at local nursing homes, refilling their cups with water and ice, getting them coffee, sitting, and just talking with them, especially to those that never received visitors. I will never forget those moments or the people I connected with throughout those early years, and I know it shaped me into where and what I am today. I have been a senior advocate and advisor for many years working in several Independent Living, Assisted Living and Memory Care communities, as well as skilled and long-term care facilities throughout the Central Ohio area. After connecting with clients, they have the knowledge and a confidence about their next steps, they feel empowered they will make the right decision. My commitment is to make this emotional and overwhelming transition as smooth as I possibly can for the people who get connected with me.
