  "The worse nightmare of my life had happened to my 78 year old mother.. She had fallen and broke her hip. She has dementia and was living in her own home in Hagerstown. I had surgery for a spinal cord injury. I had not seen mom in a couple of months, but I had caregivers coming in 2 days a week looking after her. Ultimately she was admitted to the hospital and surgery immediately. Being put under caused the dementia to become much worse. The doctors found her incompetent and I was already her POA, but I never had to use it. After her discharge from the hospital she went straight to rehab. She has limited funds and I had very little knowledge of what I was to do!! I received a phone call from Cathy Baker. This woman was a godsend! She took me step by step of each decision that had to be made! She followed up on mom’s care. She called me practically everyday!, Cathy genuinely cares about me and my mom. I had to find permanent placement for my mom. I stressed I did not want her in a nursing home and if it had to be a home I promised my mom long ago it could not be Julian Manor. Cathy said ok then no Julian Manor. She and I discussed assisted living. I was a complete mess. There was so much to do and I couldn’t go to my mom for guidance. But, Cathy stepped right up and started scheduling virtual tours. I had to sell mom’s home. I didn’t have a clue! She contacted a realtor she had used and knew would help me. (The house was in contract after one weekend above selling price). Cathy sent me information on what questions to ask during the tour. Including what to look for during the tour. I have finally stopped crying and I’m sleeping again! Cathy called me yesterday just to check on mom and myself. She was so happy things are going so smoothly! She finished the call asking me to stay in touch. I never met Cathy in person! I would love too and it would be an honor to buy her lunch!, I hate to think what would have happened to my mom if I wouldn’t have gotten that phone call from Cathy!   "Having only come in contact with Kriste Kidd just over a one week ago, it is truly amazing what all has transpired in this very short time. My parents live 3 three states away from me and my brother and I have been trying without success to get my two elderly parents ( 95 and 90) into assisted living and possible memory care for well over one year. Due to an extreme deterioration in my mother's condition a couple of weeks ago, I reached out the county Adult Protective Services, my parents doctor, attorneys and more! No one seemed to have any workable plan for a solution that would assure the safety and well being of both of my parents. I did not want them to be found dead in their condo after almost 75 years of love and marriage so I took the wise counsel of a social worker in that county and called Oasis Senior Advisors. Very early on in our phone conversations I knew I had found someone dedicated to seeing my parents get the care they needed! It was never about the financial end of things. Kriste only receives what she very rightly earns directly from the care facilities and fortunately my parents had planned well and have the financial ability pay for excellent care. But they were too old, feeble and removed from reality to see that the time had come. There were some terrible incidents before Kriste really got involved where my mom left home to roam the neighborhood and many difficult things were precipitated by my dad's feeble condition. Once Kriste found a local in home provider and began to engage with doctors, government agencies and the local hospital she made it possible for me to remotely sign care agreements for both parents. She made numerous trips to visit my parents at their condo and was involved in lovingly coaxing my mom to travel to the behavioral wing for an evaluation. She made sure of arrangements to transport her to the memory center yet today! All of this would be amazing enough but remember this has all been accomplished in less than 10 days and totally during the COVID-19 lockdown in their ( and my) state! I will forever be grateful for Kriste's caring attitude, professional manner and her amazing ability to navigate this complex world of rules, restrictions and emotional challenges. The community of aged people and their children and spouses need to be made aware of this valuable resource named Oasis Senior Advisors and particularly Kriste Kidd! We have only met via phone and video conference but I do not know what would have happened without her dedicated service!"

  "My mother had a health issue and ended up in a rehab. The staff told me she was not safe to return home alone and needed 24/7 care. My friend recommended an online agency to start the process of looking for assisted living home for my mother. Although I requested my mom being in a certain distance from where I lived and at a certain price point, out of the five options this referral agency provided, only one was in her price range and none were in the location I desired. My calls were seldom returned and I was left floundering.   "Kriste Kidd was my guiding light throughout the traumatic experience I found thrust upon me when I needed to find assisted living for my 98 year old mother. My mother, who had been living with my sister in law in Vermont these past 12 years, had a minor fall at home resulting in her being taken to the Emergency Room at the University of Vermont Hospital in Burlington. There she was diagnosed with pneumonia and admitted to resolve her issues. But I received a call from my sister in law stating my mother was not welcome back to her home, where she had lived these past 12 years! I was angry, dumbfounded and overwhelmed in regards to finding a new home for my mother! I contacted my lawyer here in Frederick who referred me to Kriste. She again accompanied me through the contract evaluation and signing! Again, a truly remarkable individual to have next to you through this entire ordeal! I was truly amazed there was someone like Kriste and her company out here to help those of us in need! My brother and sister, who live out of state and unable to assist me in this ordeal with our mother were amazed I was able to find something so quickly. I had absolutely no idea how to care for my senior aunt or what to do or where to go. Social workers, Michael and Robyn at Northampton Manor Nursing & Rehabilitation called me to tell me what the possible next steps were. They recommended Kriste to me and she contacted me. She later explained to me that she likes to reach out to clients as in those moments, our minds are racing with a million things on a to-do list, that's one less thing for us to worry about. I thought that was great and it made a great first impression! She helped me sort out medical forms and of course was the biggest help in finding an independent living community that was a great fit for my aunt's budget, needs and likes. She took out all the research I would have had to do (that I had no idea how to do or what to look for) and gave me 4 options to look at, with more on deck if none of them were suitable. She arranged for tours and meetings within a matter of days as we needed to transition from rehab to a community quickly due to Medicare running out at the rehab center and she was having to pay out of pocket (private pay). She gave me recommendations for a good and trustworthy lawyer, Law Office of Lena A. Clark for a Power of Attorney and more. She also recommended a company that helps with moving furniture and items from home to a community, Stress Free Solutions, experienced with many situations like this in the area. She kept in communication with the social worker often and with myself, no matter the time of day or holiday (4th of July). She knows Senior community living very well and has been to every community that she recommends or takes clients to see. She has worked in this business for many years and has so much education and knowledge about Senior communities, whether it is assisted living or independent living or memory care/dementia communities. I have never had to do anything like this before as my own parents are still in their late 50s and working and living life on their own just fine, yet they themselves are learning this process with my grandparents (she also gave me a contact for Oasis in San Antonio, Texas to help them out if they need it and I highly recommended it to them). I have never had to work with this much legal or medical paperwork, especially Medicare. She helped me figure out what to do and what questions to ask and to whom. She also helped me with discussing this with my aunt as this was a challenging and stressful time for her. On my flight to Frederick, MD I was incredibly stressed out not knowing what I was going to do. I wasn't sleeping the first few nights, she completely cut my stress level in half the moment we started to work together. She was there at the community waiting for my aunt to welcome her with a sign, balloons and a gift bag of things my aunt enjoyed. It was such a nice touch! She was incredibly personable and realistic and professional. She gave me the facts up front, there was not sugar coating things, which is what I wanted, to be sure of all the facts. She continues to be available to me if I need anything or have any questions. We are settling in within the week at Edenton Retirement Community, currently staying at their guest house thanks to the arrangements Kriste made with Lauren here.   "I truly don't know where my mother would be living right now if it wasn't for Kriste. I told her and truly meant it when I said that she was a God send. My mother was receiving rehab in a local nursing home and had reached a plateau in physical therapy. As a result of this, therapy was discharging her. I learned that once therapy discharges a patient Medicare coverage also ceases. Her therapists were not recommending that she go home due to safety concerns. This is where I encountered significant problems. I was told that my mother was too high functioning to go into their long-term nursing home, she met criteria for skilled nursing and could not remain in rehab, and she didn't meet criteria for their Assisted Living because she had a stage 3 wound on her heel. I received minimal help from the social worker of the nursing home. She basically told me that there was nothing she could do, and my mother would have to return home against the therapists' recommendations despite the fact that a home assessment was never completed. The social worker emailed me a list of alternative places in the community and it became my job to try to find an alternative placement for my mother. From making calls I was referred to various people. One of those persons was Kriste Kidd. Kriste offered to meet with my mother and I that evening at the nursing home because the next day my mother would be private pay, which is $405.00 a day just for the bed. After Kriste talked with my mother and I, and got a good understanding of her needs, she connected my mother to an assisted living in the community. From Kriste's knowledge, experience, and connection with community resources, she helped to bring me piece of mind that night. A nurse from the assisted living facility was going to assess my mother the next day, and because of Kriste talking with the administrator, it was almost certain that she would be accepted. Kriste stayed with me for a couple of hours that night just talking with me and giving me assurance. The great thing about the assisted living facility is that it was half the cost of the nursing home's assisted living, and they were offering a special of 50% off their regular price for three months. I am so grateful for Kriste and all of her hard work and dedication in helping families, especially during a crisis. My mother was admitted to the assisted living the next day. Kriste visited my mother and sent me a picture of the two of them together. Kriste was a strong advocate, and performed duties that the social worker should have done. More nursing homes, hospitals, and private and government agencies should utilize Kriste's services more often. Kriste continues to keep in touch with me and assists me with various needs related to my mother. Again, I am so thankful for Kriste and she truly was a God send in a time of great need!"
