Certified Senior Advisor®

Lauren O'Desky

I have always created deep connections with seniors, beginning with my grandparents and now with the families I have the honor of meeting and helping every day.

I am a native of Detroit and a graduate of the University of Michigan where I studied philosophy. After traveling abroad extensively, I settled in Chicago where I worked in the legal technology industry and raised a family with my husband Ryan. In 2010 we relocated to Milwaukee where we planted roots and are raising our three children.

It is a privilege to help family’s navigate during one of the most difficult transition periods of their lives. Whether they are staying in their homes with care or going to a supportive senior community, seniors deserve to know about all of the resources available to them to help THEM be in control. My team upholds the highest ethical confidentiality standards as we work side by side with hospitals, physicians, community partners and other resources to bring choices to our clients.

It is a pleasure to be a contributing editor of senior focused issues in local publications as well as a speaker, educator and advocate for seniors throughout Wisconsin.

Lauren is the recipient of The Rookie of the Year award in 2017 and Franchisee of the Year for 2018.

I have a great passion for seniors and understand the importance of proactively planning in making informed decisions about care for an aging loved one. I have worked as the Director of Operations for a geriatric care management company and have managed assisted living communities for the last few years. I started my career in healthcare as a caregiver, I was working hands on with seniors in an assisted living community and have cared for my grandfather who had dementia. I completed nursing and science courses at Alverno College; graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Biology degree.

While having a career in healthcare, I enjoy take a customized approach by working one-on-one with families to manage care for their loved one. While managing assisted living communities, it was important to ensure residents’ care needs were met.

I’m excited to be working as a Senior Advisor at Oasis Senior Advisors because I understand the importance of finding resources that are a great fit for your loved one by taking a customized approach. At Oasis we help families every step of the way on their journey.

For as long as I can remember helping others has been my passion, specifically working with seniors. To accomplish this, I pursued a degree in psychology and, shortly after, earned my master’s degree in counseling. Ever since graduating, I have found it enriching to help serve others.

I grew up in Lake County, Illinois, and started my career in counseling. I worked with struggling families to help find foster homes and affordable living. Once I moved to Wisconsin, I began my career working in the Senior Living industry, and I quickly fell in love with helping seniors. As my passion for helping seniors grew, I began looking for other ways to make a difference. During this time, I decided to accept a role working in hospice care. This was an amazing opportunity for me to connect with seniors and their families and help them in their greatest time of need. Following my time in hospice care, I transitioned back into senior living and accepted a position at Heritage Senior Living. During my time there, I worked very closely with Oasis, and I developed a love for what they do and respect and admiration for their team.

When the opportunity presented itself to become part of the Oasis team and work on a more personal level with seniors again, I was excited to make the switch. This allowed me to combine my experience working in senior living, my passion for helping others, and my love for seniors all into one role. I’m excited to be part of the Oasis team, and I look forward to helping seniors and their families with the burden of finding great senior living that can create high-quality care and peace of mind for everyone.

Advocating for seniors was instilled in me at a very young age. One of my earliest childhood memories was caring for my Grandfather who was blind and lived with us. This molded my future career in healthcare and caring for several family members including both Grandparents, Mother and Father. I was blessed to have the opportunity and recognize the journey is not always an easy one.

I was raised in the Northern Suburbs of Chicago, I attended the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, where I earned a Bachelor's Degree in Marketing and Speech Communications. I went on to work at a couple major healthcare companies in the Chicago area. When my Grandmother was diagnosed with Parkinsons and Alzheimers, I shifted my career to a pharmaceutical company. Knowing the impact of certain resources would have on her journey, and it did. I eventually segwayed into senior home care and found my true calling. I have lived in all four corners of the US, Europe and the Caribbean. My husband is from the Milwaukee area and this is where we chose to raise our family.

I understand that navigating the journey of aging in place can be filled with choices and decisions which can be difficult to decipher. I have personally walked this path multiple times. Making financially prudent decisions and personal planning is of the utmost importance in having a smooth transition. I am a Certified Fiduciary and have been a Regional Care Manager for one of the largest home care agencies in the country. This combined skill set, along with my personal journey, allows me to look at all aspects of the decision making process. There are an abundance of resources available and it can be overwhelming to know where to begin. I am honored to be a part of the Oasis Senior Advisors team to continue my quest to advocate for our most vulnerable population. The team of Advisors at Oasis work together, to walk hand-in-hand with our families, to assure all their needs are met.

From the time I was a little girl, my grandparents and great grandparents were a very big part of my life. Because of this close connection, seniors have always held a speical place in my heart.

I was born and raised in MIlwaukee and gradutated from the University of WI- Milwaukee - majoring in Educational Studies, with a minor in Sociology. After marrying my husband Mike in 1996, we settled in Grafton where we raised our two children who are now both in college.

My journey in health care started over 20 years ago with Ascension Columbia St Marys, where I was part of the patient access team.

It is truly an honor working at Oasis Senior Advisors and being able to support and guide families in finding a forever home for their loved ones. One of the things I love most about being an advisor is the relationships that are built with families and learning how I can best support them.
