ABOUT YOUR ADVISORS IN Southwest PA
Ben Meyer
Owner
I was born and raised on a small farm in Iowa, where I learned the value of family and that’s where my enjoyment of working first started. I graduated from Iowa State University where I earned a degree in engineering. After getting married and having two kids, my family and I moved around until we landed in Pittsburgh. The Steel City was a perfect fit for us since I grew up as a fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Deciding to become a senior advisor was an easy decision for me. I grew up with my grandparents around and loved hearing all the stories they had to tell. With a hard-working attitude and a caring personality, I appreciate being able to take some of the stress off of families while they are trying to find a place for their loved ones to live.
My biggest advice is to start having conversations sooner rather than later. From what I see with families, the most challenging part is where to start. I hear it all the time, where do we start? What do we do first? For most seniors and families, they will work through a transition like this once or maybe twice in their lifetime. They are not familiar with this process and what is all involved. This is where I’m able to help the most. After a detailed conversation, I can help determine the best course of action. With my personable and hands-on approach, I will help navigate the entire process as seamlessly as possible with the families. Nothing brings me more joy than to see a smile come across a person’s face when they are working through very challenging circumstances. Although this process is tough, there is definitely room for smiles along the way.
Nancy Iglesias
Senior Living Advisor
While not a native Pittsburgher, I think my Midwest values and background provided a great foundation for a mid-life change in careers to the Senior Living arena in Pittsburgh. I grew up in southwestern Wisconsin. I graduated from the University of Wisconsin LaCrosse with a degree in Health Education. I went on and got my Master’s degree in Christian Education with a specialty in children’s curriculum writing. I spent 10 plus years working for InterVarsity Press in the Chicago area as Publicist and Marketing Director. From there, our family moved to Minnesota where I became the Director of the local Habitat for Humanity affiliate. I had the privilege and pleasure of assisting 50 families build and purchase their own homes. I loved being a part of helping families partner with their community to make their dreams come true.
Just before our family moved to Pittsburgh I had the privilege of walking with my parents as they transitioned into an assisted living community. I experienced first hand the many decisions that had to be made and all the emotions of that time. I am so thankful that they landed in a wonderful assisted living community where they had great care, meaningful friendships and purpose each day.
My family moved to Pittsburgh in 2015. My desire to assist families as they faced some of the many challenges of aging with respect and dignity led me to Home Instead (non-medical home health) and then to a role as Admissions Director at a lovely Senior community in the North Hills. The common denominator in both roles and now in my role as an Oasis Senior Living Advisor is that I get to walk with families during the critical decision making process of how best to navigate the sometimes complicated world of finding a senior living community that can truly become a wonderful home for them or their loved ones. I look forward to listening to family’s needs and wants, finding great options for them and walking each step of the journey!
